Film Featuring Lana Young Earns Nominations
The 2023 NAACP Image Award nominees have been revealed, with the film A Jazzman’s Blues – co-starring Bermudian actress Lana Young – being nominated for four awards.
On Facebook, Ms Young said, “Two NAACP Image Award nominations – Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Motion Picture. Wow! Proud of our #ajazzmansblues family! Love y’all!
“And a humongous shout out to our very own #joshuaboone for his two nominations- Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture! So thrilled that your work is being recognized!”

The Tyler Perry website said, “The 2023 NAACP Image Awards nominees have been revealed, and Tyler Perry’s A Jazzman’s Blues has been nominated for a total of four awards. The film has been nominated for Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Ensemble Cast, and lead actor Joshua Boone earned nominations for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance and Outstanding Actor.
“Throughout the years, Tyler and his projects have earned a total of 19 NAACP Image Award wins and many more nominations. Last year, Tyler was nominated for the honorable title of Entertainer of The Year.
“Fans are able to vote for this year’s winners on the Image Awards’ website through February 10th. The NAACP Image Awards is set to air on Saturday, February 25th at 8/7C on BET, broadcasting live from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in its first in-person ceremony since 2020.
“A Jazzman’s Blues is a coming-of-age drama set deep in the American South during the 1940s that follows forbidden lovers Bayou and Leanne as they struggle against decades of secrets and lies which keep them apart. Watch it now on Netflix.”
