The Bermuda School Sports Federations’ Primary School, Middle and Senior School All Star Matches took place at the Flora Duffy National Stadium with many of the island’s top young footballers in action.

Primary School Boys: East 0 West 2

The West won 2-0 with goals either side of halftime from Kyron Bryan from Purvis Primary and Vashon Martin from Saltus Grammar School.

Bryan was fed a brilliant pass from teammate Jace Postlethwaite and slipped the ball under the East goalkeeper. Postlethwaite was unfortunate not to find the back of the net himself as he hit the woodwork twice himself. Martin did well to lift his shot over the East goalkeeper for his goal. MVP’s for the match was Adam Barritt from Saltus Grammar from the West and East goalkeeper Tayte Browne from Mount Saint Agnes Academy.

Middle School Girls: East 6 West 1

The East were 6-1 winners in the Middle School Girls’ game.

Whitney Institutes Cayli Dowling led the East with a hat-trick. Her goalscoring skills were on full display scoring long-range efforts. Schoolmates Evans Welch and Kalila Daley added a goal each along with Jada O’Brien from Clearwater Middle School. Amiya James from Warwick Academy scored the lone goal for the West. James and Dowling were named MVP’s for their respective teams.

Middle School Boys: East 4 West 0

The East were 4-0 winners of the Middle School Boys’ game.

Whitney’s explosive forward Norico Furbert led the East with a hat-trick. Million Outerbridge from Dellwood Middle School added the fourth with a long-range free kick. Furbert’s heroics earned him the MVP award for the East along with Saltus’ Malik Paynter who was named MVP despite having to leave the game through injury.

Senior School Girls: East 0 West 4

The West team came out as 4-0 winners with yet again someone scoring a hattrick, this time it was Berkley Institutes hardworking forward Jahni Simmons who was the matches clear star capping the evening with a spectacular long-range effort to cap her three-goal masterpiece. The West’s fourth goal came from an equally fine finish from Berkley’s Keyandae’ Lightbourne. Simmons was named MVP for the West while tough tackling defender Samara Darrell from Warwick Academy was named MVP for the West.

Senior School Boys: East 1 [4] West 1 [3]

The East won a penalty shootout 4-3 to win the Senior School Boys’ game after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Somersfield Academy’s Enrique Mendes gave the East a first-half lead via the penalty spot after Kee-Zai Cann from CedarBridge Academy was brought down in the box. The West equalized minutes later when Kwame Naylor from Warwick Academy’s cross found Daion Swan-Desilva on the far edge of the box. Swan-Desilva calmly collected the ball and found the far corner of the net with a well-placed equalizer.

Neither team could score in the second half leaving the two teams to decide the winner from the penalty spot.

Both teams traded goals early with Naylor, Kristian Cherrington from Berkley and Kimai Hendrickson from the West, and Saltus’ Cole Summers, home school Riley Robinson and CedarBridge Tajahri Rogers all converting from the spot. CedarBridge goalkeeper O’Mari DeShields then stopped Berkeley’s Miguel Falcao’s effort. Saltus Dante Hayward then skied his effort before DeShields saved Zano Tucker’s effort. Saltus Tre Burgess then held his nerve to convert his effort to give the East the win. DeShields was named MVP for his second-half saves and penalty saves while Swan-Desilva was named MVP for the West.
