February 6, 2023

The City of Hamilton announced this year’s lineup of signature events that they said “promise to deliver high impact for the Bermuda public.”

A spokesperson said, “In previous years, the City of Hamilton’s annual events have not only garnered popularity for their high-quality offerings but also their immersive experiences. From staging Bermuda’s longest dinner table, to concerts in the parks, there is something for everyone in the 2023 program.

“Each quarter, the City will present a Fresh Air Films movie night, free to the public and hosted in the City’s parks, car parks or streets. The open-air movie nights will feature a double-header of current or themed films with food and beverages available for purchase from vendors. Admission is always free and the public is encouraged to patronize City restaurants and bring a take-out dinner with them.

“Spring Into The City kicks off on May 1st to May 5th. This week-long celebration of everything that springtime has to offer features daily activations and giveaways on the City Hall Front Steps and Lawn. From free flower bouquets and decadent desserts to health and wellness classes and mini massages, there is something for everybody to sink their teeth into.

“It wouldn’t be summertime without a Summer Sunday City Funday. Victoria Park will set the scene for a City fair on July 16th. This popular family-driven event will draw revellers to the park to take in a wonderment of free activities including live music and performances, pie eating contests, Kids Zones, face-painting and games, a dunk tank, food vendors and a ton of additional surprises.

“The highly anticipated Taste of Bermuda will take place from October 13th – 15th. This culinary extravaganza will have tastebuds on alert with bartending and chef demonstrations, a food festival and a sensational bespoke dinner with special guests. The 2022 event was sold out, so be sure to keep your ears peeled for when tickets are made available for purchase.

“The festive season rounds out the calendar with the lighting of the iconic City Christmas tree on November 24th at City Hall. Always a hit with the kids, it’s a chance for them to meet Santa, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy the sights and sounds as we kick off the holiday season.”

Director of Marketing and Communications for the City, Jessica Astwood, stated, “We are proud to be able to serve the Bermuda public and produce an event calendar that underscores the value of experiences, connections in our communities and positive social interactions.

“Off the heels of a very successful year of events in 2022, from the Christmas Boat Parade and the return of fireworks to a citywide scavenger hunt, the team has been planning out an event program that will include input from members of the public who complete our surveys on how our event offerings can be enhanced. These initiatives will include cultural experiences and engaging concepts that pack in the “wow” factor. We hope that anyone that is made aware of this 2023 program, takes the time to mark their calendars as we tailor-make these events for Bermuda.”

The spokesperson said, “The public can also expect an array of additional events, staged in the City and put on by local organizers. Events such as Harbour Nights, Parades, Beat The Retreat, Carnival, Race Weekend, bike races, marathons, street festivals and more will all add to a full complement of events throughout the year in the City of Hamilton.

“The public is encouraged to join the City this year to co-create lasting memories and to celebrate all that Hamilton has to offer.”
