Famous has made a superb start to the indoor season, retaining her title at the LSU Purple Tiger Meet and winning the McNeese Indoor II Meet last month.

The 22-year-old has big goals for the remainder of the indoor campaign, including breaking her national record of 1.77 metres, setting a new school record and reaching the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, next month.

“The start of the season has been a good push to my confidence as I try and reach an even bigger goal of making the nationals,” Famous told Bernews.

“I wasn’t aware I’d had six straight wins. It’s an amazing accomplishment, and I hope to add [to those wins] as the season goes on.

“My main goals for the indoor season are to improve my heights and break the Bermuda indoor record and school record. Those are big goals, but, in my mind, I know I can accomplish them.”

Famous, who competed at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last summer, also hopes to represent Bermuda at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, in October and November.

“As for the outdoor season, the Pan American Games are a big goal for me,” she added. “It would be a great experience and allow me to show I can compete at the elite level.

“Right now, though, it’s time to zone in and get ready to accomplish my indoor goals.”

Famous transferred to McNeese University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, from the University of Georgia in 2021 and enjoyed a stellar debut season, reaching the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a personal best jump of 1.84.
