FEI Jumping World Challenge Gets Underway

The first of the three competitions comprising the 2023 FEI Jumping World Challenge was held at Bermuda’s National Equestrian Center on Saturday, 18th February 2023.

A spokesperson said, “Leading the way in Category A height division [1.20 – 1.30m] with a combined penalty score of 12 was Philip Correia riding Junior Cardento. Jaylynn Hines and her horse Toto D’ysenbeeck Z placed second with a combined penalty score of 54 points.

“In the Category B division [1.10 – 1.20m] Vicki Steele riding In the Stars captured 1st place with a combined 4-point penalty score. Tyler James and Cruise Control placed second 2nd with a combined penalty score of 12.

“In the Category C division [1.00 – 1.10m] Michael Rodrigues cand his horse Rambo secured the top spot with a commendable zero penalties. Followed closely in second place was McKeisha Smith & Da Vinci with a combined total of 4 faults and a time of 49.54 in the second round. Isabelle Pelletier riding her horse Kaid HZ also had a combined total of 4 penalties but with a time of 56.20 placing in them in the 3rd spot.

“As mentioned, the Challenge comprises of three separate competitions, with competitors jumping two rounds in their respective height division. Bermuda will host Competition #2 on Saturday 18th March at the National Equestrian Center.”
