FEI Jumping World Challenge Starts On Feb 18
Bermuda show jumpers are gearing up to compete in the upcoming 2023 FEI Jumping World Challenge.
A spokesperson said, “The Challenge provides local show jumping equestrians with an opportunity to compete in an international setting without the expense or logistical challenges of travelling overseas. Riders from ten different geographical zones compete over the same jumping courses designed by an FEI appointed course designer. This year’s course designer is FEI Level 3 Course Designer, Nazim Alexandre Sebiane of Algeria.
“The Challenge comprise of three separate competitions with competitors jumping two rounds in their respective height division. FEI Level 1 Judge Pam Mahoney of Bermuda will judge Competitions 1 & 2 and FEI Level 3 Judge Cathy Harper of Canada together with FEI Level 1 Judge Pam Mahoney will adjudicate competition 3.
“Once again, Team and Individual classifications will be offered in the following height categories.
- Category A: 1.20 – 1.30m height
- Category B: 1.10 – 1.20 m height
- Category C: 1.00 – 1.10m height
“Competing in the Category A is Philip Correia riding Junior Cardento & JayLynn Hines riding her gelding Toto D’ysenbeeck Z. Category B competitors include Vicki Steele riding In the Stars and Tyler James on Cruise Control. Competing in Category C are Sierra Wolffe riding Forza, McKeisha Smith riding Da Vinci, Isabelle Pelletier riding Kaid HZ and Michael Rodrigues riding Rambo.
“The three competitions will be held on the following dates:
- Competiton#1 Saturday 18th February 2023
- Competiton#2 Saturday 18th March 2023
- Competition #3 Saturday 8th April 2023
“All competitions will be held at Bermuda’s National Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street, Devonshire. Horse Inspection will take place at 9 am., with the first jumping class scheduled to commence at 10.15 a.m.
“Spectators are most welcome and there is no admission charge.”
