CedarBridge Teacher Tiffany Fox’s Journey
[Written by CedarBridge S4 student Kayla McCarthy]
Our cherished music teacher Ms. Tiffany Fox is a wonderful person to write about. She is stationed in the rooms to the left of the lower stairs leading to the north courtyard. Even if you cannot find it, follow the sound echoing through the halls of Ms. Fox’s classes demonstrating their musical abilities.
I’ve had the privilege to spend a lot of time with her, both in and out of class, and she is someone to be admired. When you meet her for the first time, she asks you the standard icebreaker questions, such as “What is your mother’s name? What is your father’s name?” to see who she will be working with.
Can you believe Ms. Fox didn’t want to be a music teacher at first?
“When I finished my Bachelor’s Degree in performance, an opportunity to travel to London and complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Education [PGCE] presented itself, and I took advantage of it,” she said. “I didn’t want plan B to become more important than plan A, and I had no intention of teaching until then.”
It’s incredible to think about how easy it could have been for Ms. Fox to not be a part of the CedarBridge Academy family.
Ms. Fox is a third-generation musician from both her maternal and paternal families, and she had to choose between her musical and dance passions. Of course, she ultimately chose music, and she has no regrets. As a teen, she was fascinated by marine biology, but music stole her heart. Ms. Fox, a CBA music teacher, teaches her material in the same way that she learns it: “I listen to different people perform the piece, and then I break it down into smaller chunks to learn the structure. Finally, I try to remember it.”
One of her favorite CBA stories is our arts production of Annie.
“The Wiz was probably our best work,” she said, “but producing Annie was the start of a really special tradition and partnership with the then drama teacher, Patricia Nesbitt, and I loved the work.”
Unfortunately, I was not present for those performances, but I heard from many seniors above me that they were outstanding.
Ms. Fox enjoys hearing about students’ accomplishments after they leave CBA. “I’ve had many fantastic memories as a teacher at CBA, including but not limited to producing shows with members of the Arts Department and traveling internationally to perform with students,” she says.
Ms. Fox dabbles in composition with Korie Minors, a DJ and producer, excluding all of her compositions for her classes. Aside from that, she wants to write her own EP, which is very exciting, but teaching and performing both take time away from the process. Ms. Fox is extremely busy in her spare time. As a result, she has limited time for extracurricular activities that do not include being a musician and educator.
Nonetheless, she has a few outside interests, such as going to the beach; in fact, Ms. Fox enjoys anything aquatic. She is a PADI [Professional Association of Diving Instructors] diver who enjoys being creative. She is a perfectionist, which shows in both her classes and her personal life. She “obsesses” about learning new things, such as cooking new dishes or creating a new product for String Collective or Bermuda Youth Orchestra, both of which she founded.

Many people look up to Ms. Fox as an inspiration. There are numerous lessons we can take from her. As someone who aspires to a career in the performing arts, I can’t help but appreciate her responses. If you’re thinking about doing the same, don’t worry; Ms. Fox has some advice for you.
“Of course, practice is necessary! You are the creator of your own life story. Don’t let other people decide your fate.”
I wholeheartedly concur! Never stop practicing because practice makes perfect.
