Cody Rego Wins ASPCA Class In Florida
Bermudian equestrian Cody Rego won the ASPCA Maclay class [Section A division] at Florida’s Winter Equestrian Festival.
A spokesperson said, “Competing at the Winter Equestrian Festival, Bermuda equestrian Cody Rego has done it again! Riding Ironman, Cody Rego captured 1st place in the ASPCA Maclay class [Section A division] held on Sunday 5th March at Florida’s Winter Equestrian Festival.
“By way of background, each year, hundreds of top junior riders seek to qualify for the ASPCA Maclay finals which will be held at the National Horse Show from 25th October – 5th November. To reach the finals, riders must first qualify to compete in the ASPCA Maclay regionals.
“In order to qualify for regionals, riders compete in Maclay classes held at USEF sanctioned horse shows throughout the qualifying period ending 31st August. Only riders securing the requisite points are invited to compete at ASPCA Maclay Regional events. Qualified riders vie for the top placings in regionals so as to advance to the prestigious ASPCA Maclay finals.
“In addition, this dynamic duo placed 1st in the WIHS Hunter Phase with an impressive score of 93. They went on to place 2nd in the Jumper Phase thereby securing 1st place in the WIHS overall division. The WIHS Finals will be held at the Washington International Horseshow from 23rd – 29th October.
“And to complete the weekend’s achievements, Cody and Ironman placed 3rd in the Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Section. Congratulations Cody on your outstanding achievements!”
