RA Comment On Digicel/BTC Network Outage
The Regulatory Authority [RA] noted they are “aware of the island wide outage to Digicel/BTC’s fixed telephony network” — which resulted in landlines, including the 911 number, being unoperational for a few hours — and noted that Digicel/BTC “complied with the standard outage reporting requirements. ”
A spokesperson said, “The RA can confirm that it is aware of the island wide outage to Digicel/BTC’s fixed telephony network from approximately 12:30pm to 4pm on Monday March 6th, 2023. The RA can confirm that Digicel/BTC complied with the standard outage reporting requirements. Once the RA receives Digicel/BTC’s final outage report, the RA will review the findings before working with Digicel/BTC on any follow up recommendations.

I worked at telco for almost 20 years n never had an island wide outage. Not sure how this could have happened because exchanges could operate independently but needed junction cables to connect to other exchanges. I for one would like the report to be made public. Smdh.
How about some accountability since we pay ridiculous fees for the service or lack of that they provide.
