Rosalie Gardens: New Art Release And More

On Saturday, March 18th from 8am to 5pm, Atlantic Publishing House will be hosting a Bermuda roses and plant sale with Jamaican coffee to taste. In addition to that, Nana Peggy Burns will have a great collection of Bermuda books on sale.
This exciting event will be held at Rosalie Gardens, 35 Angle Street, right next to the House of Football and Community Dialogue: Scratchie’s Barber Shop. Everyone is invited to attend. The proceeds will be used to support the Clarence Hill Sports Arena and the Bermuda House of Music.
At 1.00pm, the ribbon cutting ceremony will be performed by the grande dame of Gombey costumes, Mrs. Janice Warner-Virgil, who will unveil a special painting by Bermudian musician and artist, Miles Manders, who designed:
- The Music Wall of Fame
- The Staircase to Heaven
- The Spotlight on Music, and was a featured artist during the “The Heartbeat Music Festival” held from May to September 2022 at Rosalie Gardens.In its first year guests enjoyed live jazz, opera, calypso, a fashion show and limbo. This year the season will commence on May 19th with a group oflocal artists who will be in the area painting “The Heartbeat” houses and businesses.
Mr. Manders is proud of the art instructions which he received at the Berkeley Institute under the tutelage of Bermuda’s first professionally trained black artist, the late Charles Lloyd Tucker [1913-1971].
As a special treat for those who cannot attend on Saturday, Rosalie Gardens will be open from 8.00aam to 5.00pm Sunday, with the plant sale continuing. Atlantic Publishing House is hoping the event will be a success so that it can celebrate year two of the Heartbeat Music Festival.
