‘The Factory BDA’ Celebrates Grand Opening

March 9, 2023

The Factory BDA — an eatery located at the Ocean View Golf Course Clubhouse — is celebrating their grand opening this week, which kicked off with a ribbon cutting.

A spokesperson said, “The place where patrons can dine on ‘birria tacos, nugs, and the famous bodega burger officially opens its doors after a soft opening last year. This is a new chapter for the buzzing kitchen located at Ocean View Golf Course Clubhouse.

“The Factory is operated by Rakeem Deshields and Daniel Woods along with chefs Keo Darrell, Jai Trott & Akil Trott. With an influx of fantastic, young local talent who are well versed have come in and created a great vibe within the organisation. The chefs have a wealth of talent and experience coming from some of the best restaurants on island and have formed their own Dream Team.

“Owner, Rakeem first capitalized on a craving for Birria tacos during the Covid lockdown in 2020. The popularity took off after sharing pictures of the tacos with friends and letting them try them. What started as preorders from his house, taking 20 orders, expanded to 100+ preorders every Tuesday.

“The space at Ocean View became available via RFP early last year. After wowing the judges with presentation, proposal and food and finalizing paperwork and inspections the space was theirs. Now what is known as The Factory is putting a spin on creative fast food trends with tacos, ‘nugs,’ and daily specials like birria ramen, lobster rolls and fishcakes as standout items. We are open from Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sundays from 8am until 4pm and accepts both cash and card payments.

“Some patrons have said the burgers and tacos are some of the best on the island. This makes sense because these menu items were the initial major claims to fame. Additionally, awesome fish dinners, jerk chicken plates and daily specials which range in cuisines keeping hungry patrons coming in.

“With a dedicated following, the new year called for planning out next steps and expanding the brand. There are still some exciting things planned for the company and will be starting to market other ventures. This includes a new takeout hub in time for summer, delivery options available end of this month after formally joining Sargasso app, and continuing to offer fantastic catering services.

“Ocean View Hall booking now comes under The Factory’s remit and last but not least, a new trailer/second location is coming soon for more pop ups/caterings at events. It’s an exciting time, The Factory is ready to fully put themselves out there for the entire island to see their offerings.

“The grand opening will feature week long of programming with new daily specials and menu item additions. Old and new customers are welcome to try and enjoy food and witness the growth of the business.

“The team is very enthusiastic to share the food with as many people as possible and welcome to and generate more business. More information can be found by following their social media page to get the full details but essentially, each day of the week will have different specials which run in tandem with the bar and entertainment.

“For catering or bookings please feel free to contact us via social media or through this email. To order takeout give us a call at 505 – 3663 [FOOD].”

Premier David Burt tweeted his congratulations, saying, “It was a pleasure to be at the official opening of @TheFactorybda/ Congrats to owner Rakeem Deshields, part-owner Mr Daniel Woods, & their team of chefs: Keo Darrell, Jai Trott & Akil Trott. I wish them continued success at their first location & in their plans for expansion.”
