Motorcycle Rider Injured In Collision In Sandys

[Updated] A male motorcycle rider was injured in a collision in Sandys this afternoon [March 9].

A police spokesperson said, “There has been a reported serious road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle at the junction of Somerset Road and Westside Road near the former country Squire, Sandys.

“Details of the incident remain limited at this time however it is understood the male motorcycle rider serious facial and possible head injuries.

“The scene is currently being processed. Traffic diversions are in place at Sound View Rd and Westside Rd with the junction of Somerset Rd.”

Update 7.25pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:36pm on Thursday 9th March 2023, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious two vehicle collision on Somerset Road at the junction with West Side Road, Sandys.

“Initial information suggests that a man traveling east on a motorcycle attempted to overtake a truck also headed east, when he collided with a motorcar headed in the opposite direction.

“The man was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment of possible head injuries. The man driving the motorcar was not reported to be injured.

“Traffic was being diverted at Sound View Road and Bob’s Valley Road whilst police processed the scene.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call Acting Sgt. Justina Watson on 211 or email jwatson@bps.bm.”

      Turns out that this was at the junction of West Side and Main Rd Somerset.
      Haven’t got any idea how the Country Squire got in there .
