William Frith Places 3rd In US Junior Squash
Bermuda’s William Frith placed 3rd in the US Junior Squash Bronze Tournament held in Norwalk, Connecticut.
The 13-year-old won his first round match in three consecutive games, but faced tougher competition in the semi-final match versus the eventual winner of the Boys Under 15 division. In the Playoff match for 3rd place, Frith had a decisive 3-0 victory against a player from New Jersey.
“A National Squad player at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association, William has been the runner up in the Bermuda Junior National Championships Boys Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 for the past 4 years,” a spokesperson said.
“In the fall of 2022, William started Eaglebrook School in Deerfield MA and made the Varsity Squash Team as a fourth former, one of only two players on the Varsity to do so. He played at the number 4 and number 5 positions. Frith had a strong season winning all of his matches against junior boarding schools. Against senior boarding schools such as Andover, Deerfield and St. Pauls, Eaglebrook lost. But in most cases, competition was tight.
“Frith looks to build on his success next year as a fifth former and to play in more US Junior Squash Tournaments.”
