Art Show To Celebrate Berkeley’s Anniversary

The Berkeley Institute is getting set to hold an alumni and current students’ art show, opening on Friday, April 21.

A spokesperson said, “In celebration of the 125th anniversary of The Berkeley Institute, The Berkeley Educational Society cordially invites you to the alumni and current students’ art show.

“The show officially opens on Friday, April 21 at 6.00pm with a silent auction of work by some of the exhibitors, and will continue until Saturday, April 22, closing at 6.00pm Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the school.

“This art show includes many alumni who were taught by the school’s first Bermudian and most prominent art teacher, Mr. Charles Lloyd Tucker, whose artwork will also be highlighted. One alumna is Mrs. Eloise Furbert whose husband Mr. F.S. Furbert was the first Bermudian principal of The Berkeley Institute. She is a self-taught artist with outstanding artwork in her repertoire.

“Today, the tradition of excellence in the performing and visual arts at The Berkeley Institute continues with a complement of dedicated teachers and many gifted students.

“This special event will be held in the Berkeley History Room, situated in the lower atrium at the school’s main entrance. The schedule for the daily shows is as follows:

Friday 21st April 2023

  • Opening Exhibition and Silent Auction
  • 6:00p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Saturday 22nd April, 2023

  • Exhibition Open
  • 1:00p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Monday 24th April, 2023

  • Exhibition Open
  • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Tues. 25th – Sat. 29th April 2023

  • Exhibition Open
  • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
