Bermuda YAO Baseball Season Underway
The Bermuda YAO Baseball season got underway, with the Phillies, Mets, Blue Jays, and Diamondbacks all earning wins.
Cal Ripken Division [ages 10-12]:
Phillies 22 Red Sox 9 Shane Reardon and Charlie Szakmary powered the Phillies, who triumphed over the Red Sox in an exciting opening day at Kindley Field. Solid pitching by Charlie Tudor-Thomas closed out the win backed by a stellar defensive play in right field by Cristiano Hizon. The Red Sox were led by solid pitching and two hits from John Fontanetta. Mets 16 Blue Jays 14 The Mets defeated the Blue Jays in a tightly matched contest, led by Remy Cahill who had 3 hits and Marcus Furbert with two inside the park home runs. Kylen Richard of the Blue Jays smashed the season’s first Home Run to dead center.

Blue Jays 6 Pirates 2 The Blue Jays were powered by solid pitching from Isaiah Furbert, Cnor Mahedo and Crew Dort while Carter Simons-Crane of the Pirates had the days’ best pitching effort with 4 strikeouts over 2 no-hit innings. Diamondbacks 10 Orioles 2 The Diamondbacks displayed strong pitching and defense, while Ezrah Lemon led the offense with 4 hits. Gabriel Perozzi led the Orioles, going 3-for-3 from the plate.
