Yael Selfin To Present Global Economic Outlook

KPMG announced that Yael Selfin, Chief Economist at KPMG in the UK, will deliver a keynote speech during the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce’s AGM & Luncheon on Thursday [April 20] at the Hamilton Princess Hotel.

A spokesperson said, “Yael’s keynote presentation will provide an overview of KPMG’s 2023 Global Economic Outlook and its implications for the Bermudian market. Drawing from her extensive experience in economic consulting and research, Yael will discuss the economic challenges from a global perspective and make observations about how it may impact Bermuda.

“Topics which will be addressed include:

  • how governments and central banks are responding to inflation and other economic headwinds;
  • pressures on businesses from reduced consumer spending and higher borrowing costs;
  • outlook for consumer spending in response to the squeeze on real income;
  • supply chain pressures; and
  • the possible impact of geopolitical tensions between the West and China.”

Speaking ahead of her presentation, Ms Selfin said: “I am happy to be taking part in the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce’s AGM luncheon as the keynote speaker. During my speech, I will highlight the latest economic trends found in the report and our predictions for 2023, which can provide a good indication of what may lie ahead. The report can also provide business leaders with a greater understanding of current economic drivers, which can in turn, help with them developing robust strategies focused on the ultimate goal of sustainable growth.”
