Video: J’Auza James Wins Bronze In Carifta

J’Auza James claimed Bermuda’s second medal at the 50th Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas, after winning bronze in the octathlon yesterday [April 9].
James’s medal-winning performance follows Kahzi Sealey’s silver in the men’s under-20 1,500 metres on Saturday.
Featuring eight events over two days – the long jump, shot put, 400, 110 hurdles, high jump and javelin and 1,500 – James found himself in medal contention going into the final event in which he finished second in 4min 36.01sec.
The 17-year-old accumulated 4,850 points, with Lavar Deveaux, of the Bahamas, coming second with 5,197 points and Court Williams, of Jamaica, leading the way with 5,253 points.
Meanwhile, Bermuda’s girls’ under-17 4×100 team of J’Naz Richards, Pria Wilson, Lashee Jones and Arima Turner, finished just outside the podium in fourth in 48.12.
Jamaica claimed gold, with Trinidad and Tobago taking silver and the Bahamas claiming bronze.
The Games continue today.
