BNAA & World Athletics Celebrate Kids’ Day
The Bermuda National Athletics Association [BNAA] is joining World Athletics in celebration of Kids’ Athletics Day, May 2023.
A spokesperson said, “World Athletics and its Member Federations aim to engage 400,000 kids, worldwide, in athletic activity on Kids’ Athletics Day 2023 to counter growing levels of global inactivity rates amongst children.
“The Kids’ Athletics program is a grassroots program that promotes Move, Play, Explore, using the power of athletics to inspire children and young people, wherever they are, to be more active, develop their skills and confidence, and to connect with sport for life.
“As part of this venture, the BNAA will be partnering with USA Track and Field [USATF] to co-host the 2nd Annual Free Run Jump Throws [RJT] Clinic on May 20th at the Flora Duffy National Stadium.
“The USATF RJT program is a program run in the U.S. that aims to gets kids excited about physical activity by introducing them to the basic running, jumping, and throwing skills. The event is for kids between the ages of 5 and 15 and will give them the opportunity to interact with U.S. and Bermudian Olympians, hear about their athletic journey and engage in a series of introductory exercises that are fundamental to the sport of Athletics.
“Register at www.trackie.com/online-registration/find-event/ for the RJT Clinic. Registrants can access the track at 8 a.m. and the Clinic will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 a.m.
“Following this, the inaugural Move More Bermuda Senior Games will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the Fastest Kid on the Rock Challenge at 5 p.m. Registration for these events can be found at the link above.
