National Gallery Seeks New Executive Director
The Trustees of the Bermuda National Gallery are seeking a new Executive Director and said they “encourage applicants who are business minded, with strong relationship management and fund-raising expertise to apply for this exciting role. ”
A spokesperson said, “The Trustees of the Bermuda National Gallery [www.bng.bm] are seeking a new Executive Director and champion for the arts, as they wish outgoing Executive Director, Peter Lapsley, every success as he takes on new adventures in Norway, with his family later this year.
“Working with a dynamic team that produces well-respected exhibitions and programmes for which the BNG is known, Mr. Lapsley would be the first to acknowledge that while he is extremely proud of what he and the BNG team have achieved over the past five years, it is exciting to consider what the next Executive Director will bring to the table.
“An Executive Director for our BNSC certified non-profit requires the skills to engage in all aspects of the operation. This includes everything from producing exhibitions, safeguarding the collections, considering educational outreach to the schools, supporting the island’s artists, plus many other activities in between. It requires the ability to work with artists and artworks in ways that respect an artist’s vision, while balancing the needs of an overall exhibition that may have many elements to it, such as our internationally judged Biennial exhibitions.”
“Being the Executive Director of the Bermuda National Gallery has been incredibly rewarding work. I have had the opportunity to share our community’s stories with a wider audience, and while I brought my own skills and vision to the role, I know there is someone out there who will bring their own expertise to the table, to not only continue the BNG’s great work but to help the organization evolve and thrive,” said Peter Lapsley.
