Minister of Tourism and the Cabinet Office, Vance Campbell, said, “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the owners and management of the Hamilton Princess for investing in the development and training of young Bermudians. I am extremely pleased to see two young Bermudians taking such an active interest in the industry and pursuing their ambitions for leadership roles therein. Tah-Mi and Jaquan have very promising careers in the tourism industry, and I wish them all the very best in their endeavours.”

The spokesperson said, “Tah-mi Williams is a graduate of the University of Salford’s Business School, with an Associate’s degree in hospitality and a Bachelor’s degree in tourism with business. He is a Certified Tourism Ambassador [CTA], he previously worked for the Bermuda Tourism Authority at their Visitor Service Centre, and has local and international hotel experience. He will report to Shawn Lekki, Director of Food & Beverage, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.”

Mr. Lekki said: “Tah-mi has gained an in-depth knowledge in our Purchasing, Stewarding, Culinary, Banqueting, Beach Club and Food & Beverage venues. He will report to Andre Binns, Director of Housekeeping, at the hotel.”

Mr. Binns said: “Jaquan flourished in Housekeeping and Laundry: the backbone of the hotel’s rooms offering. He assisted the department in the day-to-day operations of the department, learned scheduling, budgeting and line items, and followed the most stringent of cleaning standards to ensure that guests get the most out of their room experience.”

The spokesperson said, “Jaquan mentioned that out of all the areas that he rotated among Front Office, Night Audit, Bell Services, Concierge, Royal Service, and Fairmont Gold, he enjoyed Housekeeping the most. He was able to learn skills outside of his comfort zone and it inspired him to enroll in various online accounting courses to bolster his confidence in department budgeting.”

“The program has been a great experience – there was no better place for me to learn, said Mr. Burrows. “It’s important for young Bermudians like me to seize opportunities wherever they present themselves. You never know where they might lead!”

Tah-mi Williams agrees. He said: “The program has really paid out in benefits. It was definitely rigorous, and I was challenged in ways that helped me to grow my career and personally. You must love hospitality, and I’ve loved it since I was 19 years old. The return on engaging with guests and sharing a piece of Bermuda with the guests is priceless.”

The spokesperson said, “Persons interested in the next phase of the Food & Beverage Division of the Leadership Development Program, should email Mikheah Butterfield, Recruitment Manager, via Mikheah.Butterfield@Fairmont.com.”
