“This is an important step in ensuring that the people of Bermuda stay informed and safe during times of national emergency,” said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of National Security is proud to announce that Bermuda’s emergency radio station 100.1fm is now available on the http://www.gov.bm website.

“This is the first time that the radio station has been available to the public via the Internet in addition to the primary terrestrial signal.”

The Minister added: “By streaming the radio station on the gov.bm website, we can reach more people than ever before and ensure that everyone is up to date with the latest information.

“Whether it be accessed via your computer or mobile device, streaming technology will allow more people to access the station during national emergencies such as hurricanes and power outages and help keep the island informed.

“While the terrestrial FM signal remains the primary source of emergency messaging, this streaming service will be a convenience to the public, including those located outside of Bermuda.”

The spokesperson said, “The audio player window can be found at the bottom of the Government portal page, and those who click it can listen to the station live.

“The Ministry encourages everyone to try out the stream and to use it at their convenience, in addition to the terrestrial signal, should an emergency occur.”
