In celebration of World Oceans Day, Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB] will host a free art show, open house, and children’s art workshops tomorrow [June 9] and Saturday [June 10] at the Bermuda Society of Arts [BSOA].

A spokesperson said, “In celebration of World Oceans Day, Keep Bermuda Beautiful is excited to host a free art show, open house and children’s art workshops this Friday and Saturday, June 9th and 10th at the Bermuda Society of Arts. Visit KBB.bm for more details and registration information. All events are family-friendly and free for the public to attend, thanks to the generosity of our local sponsor, Chubb.

“These events are part of KBB’s Oceans Art Show which opened on Thursday June 8th [World Oceans Day] and runs to Friday June 16th. The show features the work of local artists Meredith Andrews, Tiffany Banner, Alice Coutet, Hannah Emmerson, Edward Fisher, Seri Fisher, Graham Foster, Jonah Jones, Anne Kermode, Gillian Outerbridge, Jill Amos Raine, Corrina Rego, Otto Trott, Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation and students from across the island, including over 100 entries in the Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme [BOPP] digital art competition.

Open House & Bermuda Ocean Plastics Documentary Premiere – Friday June 9th from 5pm-7pm

“KBB’s open house starts at 5pm at the BSOA and will feature the premiere of the Bermuda Ocean Plastics Project at 5:45pm followed by a brief panel discussion with some of the project team at 6pm. The public will have the opportunity to enjoy the art show and ask questions of our experts involved with the project. Light snacks and drinks will be provided thanks to our supporters Take Five Catering, Burrows & Lightbourn, Bermuda Biscuits and Ashley’s Lemonade.

“The documentary was produced from a multi-year study on the effects of ocean pollution in Bermuda, specifically plastics from the global ocean pollution crisis that are continuously washing onto our shores. The project, a collaboration between KBB and Look Bermuda, included over 100 local students who participated in multiple collections, studies and data analysis over the past few years. The project was generously sponsored by AXIS and is narrated by Stefan Johnstone of SJD World. KBB thanks everyone involved for bringing this amazing film to life.

Ocean Plastics Art Workshops – Saturday June 10th at 11am, 12pm and 1pm

“Saturday’s ocean plastics art workshops, also at the BSOA, are for children ages 3 and up. This event is hosted by KBB in partnership with Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation. Space is limited to 20 children per hour and workshops start at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
