National Sprint Triathlon To Be Held On June 25

The Bermuda Triathlon Association today announced that the Liberty Mutual Bermuda National Sprint Triathlon Championships will be held in Hamilton on the morning of Sunday June 25th.

A spokesperson said, “The event has Senior Individual and Team Sprint options as well as shorter distances for those new to the sport and younger athletes. A duathlon [run/bike] is also a possibility for children. Schools are encouraged to enter teams in the Senior and Middle School Challenge, where three students take on the individual disciplines of swim, bike and run.”

“Last year over 100 triathletes of all ages took part in the event and Steve Petty, President of the Bermuda Triathlon Association, believes that the event will see larger numbers taking part this year,

“The Liberty Mutual Bermuda National Sprint Triathlon Championships is one of the most electric and exciting sporting events in Bermuda. Whether you are new to the sport or an experienced triathlete, it is an amazing opportunity to swim in the Harbour and race around the streets of the City of Hamilton. We encourage the public to come out and support all the athletes taking part.”

Steve Horton, President, Liberty Mutual Bermuda is pleased to sponsor the triathlon for a second year, “At Liberty Mutual Bermuda we are committed to supporting active, community events. It is wonderful to watch triathletes of all ages show off their skills on race day. Triathlon is a sport where hard work, dedication and training pay off on the racecourse. These are skills that are invaluable in all aspects of life.”

The spokesperson said, “Registration is now open on racedayworld.com. The Bermuda Triathlon Association would like to notify the public that road closures will be in effect on the morning of June 25th.”
