Driver Crashes, Jumps In Water, Then Arrested
At around 3.20am this morning [Aug 4] a 31-year-old male car driver failed to stop for police, crashed into a wall, then exited the vehicle and jumped into the water, and was subsequently arrested by police.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:20 a.m. on Friday, August 4th, 2023, police officers attempted to stop a motorcar which was traveling at a high rate of speed and being driven in a dangerous manner as it exited the Dockyard area.
“The driver failed to stop for police and collided into a wall near Pender Road and Freeport Drive, Sandys Parish.
“The male driver, exited the vehicle and jumped into the water. However, he was detained as he swam back to shore.
“The 31-year-old male sustained minor injuries in the collision and was attended to at the scene by EMTs.
“He was subsequently arrested by police and transported to Hamilton Police Station.”
