This evening’s [Aug 30] Harbour Nights event has been postponed due to the weather, and the final Harbour Nights of the season will now be held on Wednesday, September 6th.

A spokesperson said, “It is with the utmost concern for the safety and well-being of our attendees, vendors, and staff that we announce the cancellation of this evening’s edition of Harbour Nights due to a tropical storm warning issued for the area. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our very last Harbour Nights event of the season.

“Given the need to prioritize everyone’s safety, we have rescheduled the final Harbour Nights event to Wednesday, September 6th. We are excited to share that this rescheduled event will be proudly sponsored by Butterfield. We encourage everyone to mark their calendars and join us for a spectacular celebration to close the season with a bang.

“While we are disappointed that we cannot proceed with tonight’s event, safety remains our top priority. We urge all residents and visitors to stay informed about the weather conditions and to take the necessary precautions as Hurricane Franklin passes by the area.”

A spokesperson for the City of Hamilton said, “While it is always disappointing when Harbour Nights is cancelled due to inclement weather, the City is grateful to the Chamber for rescheduling the final Harbour Nights to next week, essentially extending the season by another week.

“As the centre for commerce and trade, the importance of Harbour Nights in Hamilton and the exposure it brings to smaller entrepreneurial businesses is invaluable. The knock-on effect of additional foot traffic stimulates the bottom line for our rate-paying retailers and restaurants and the vibe and energy of these now famous Wednesday nights speaks directly to the City’s mandate to be a vibrant one. We are proud to sponsor this popular summer season event, which supports our people and culture. ”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this rescheduling may cause and appreciate your understanding. We believe that the safety and well-being of all involved is of paramount importance. In the meantime, stay safe, stay informed, and be prepared to weather the storm as Hurricane Franklin passes by.
