Hawley Finishes On Podium In Yeongdo

Erica Hawley achieved her first podium finish in a World Triathlon Cup race after finishing third in the elite women’s event at the Yeongdo World Cup in South Korea today [August 5].
Hawley, who won the elite women’s race at the Americas Triathlon Cup in Montreal last month, finished the sprint-distance race in 57:07. Her splits were 10:09, 28:46 and 17:06.
Annika Koch, of Germany, won the race in 56:50, and Romana Gajdosova, of Slovakia, came third in 57:06.
“The stuff of dreams,” Hawley wrote on Instagram. “In Yeongdo World Cup and my first podium [and top ten] at this level! Pinch me because it just doesn’t seem real.”
The World Triathlon Cup is the second tier of the sport behind the World Triathlon Championship Series.
