BHS Students Awarded Distinction In Competition
Three students from Bermuda High School for Girls have been recognised for their essay writing skills after being shortlisted in the junior category of a prestigious international competition.
Sienna Spurling, Joy Ella Yammine and Aditi Varwandkar travelled to the University of Oxford in England to attend the John Locke Institute Global Essay Competition awards ceremony at the weekend.
Ms Spurling and Ms Yammine were awarded distinctions for their essays in the under-15 category.
Distinctions were given to the top 15 per cent of shortlisted candidates from around 19,000 essays submitted.
A panel of senior academics from leading universities, including Oxford and Princeton University in New Jersey, judged the essays.
The competition featured seven subject categories: philosophy, politics, economics, history, psychology, theology and law.
