DeSilva-Andrade & Hayward Compete In Brazil
Yushae DeSilva-Andrade and Omar Hayward competed in the Fortaleza World Boccia Cup in Brazil.
A spokesperson said, “Yushae played two matches yesterday. In her 1st match she lost 4-3 to Hiromi Endo from Japan. Yushae got off to a great start and was leading 3-1 going into final end, before Endo scored 3 points in final end to snatch the victory.
“She then played World number 6 Satanan Phromsiri from Thailand and won 4-2. This was another tight game and scores were level [2-2] going into the final end, however Yushae was able to make some critical shots under pressure to win and showed great resilience to secure a place in the semi finals. She will now play the world number 1 Andreza De Oliveira today.
“Omar lost both games yesterday. He played world number 2 Witsanu Huadpradit from Thailand losing 11-1. He then played Martin Frkovic from Croatia [world number 25] losing by the slimmest of margins 3-2 with his opponent executing a difficult shot with the very last throw of game to win.”
