The Montreal World Boccia Cup concluded for Bermuda’s Yushae DeSilva-Andrade and Omar Hayward.

Hayward bounced back brilliantly upsetting world number 8 Eduardo Sanchez from Mexico 3 – 2. After a defeat in his 1st match, Hayward showed great fight and a much-improved performance, however unfortunately due to a poorer point differential than his opponents, he did not progress to the finals.

DeSilva-Andrade played Yuriko Fujii, the world number 10, from Japan. DeSilva-Andrade had a tough start to the match with her opponent going ahead by 6 points, however she also showed great fight to reduce the deficit but she was unable to close the gap by the end of the match. DeSilva-Andrade narrowly missed out on progressing also due to point difference.

Hayward and DeSilva-Andrade will next be competing in the Povoa de Varzim World Boccia Cup in Portugal from July 8th – 12th.
