October 27, 2023 | 0 Comments

Local video game company Bermuda Island Games is offering a 6-week Coding Course starting November 14th at Warwick Academy, each Tuesday, for students aged 14 and older.

A spokesperson said, “The course teaches students programming using the C# language for the Unity game engine. The course covers the fundamentals of programming in a fun and interactive way, by making video games. Over the six weeks, each lesson is designed to get the student to gradually learn the best practices for coding. It also includes more recent concepts such as Generative AI for games.

“This is the third in a series of courses offered by Bermuda Island Games this year: in February they did a Digital Artwork course, and in July they covered Video Game Basics. This one will focus more on the coding rather than artwork or overall understanding of video game design.”

Founder Adrian Lodge said “While Unity has been in the news recently for their pricing changes, it is still considered the most popular and the most flexible game engine for 2D and 3D games on the market. We wanted to offer this course to help those who are interested in learning more about video game development, or just programming in general as we are always looking for more local talent!”

“Thanks again to our sponsors BEDC, and the Government of Bermuda Economic Development Department for helping us to put on this event, hosted by Warwick Academy.”

The spokesperson said, “To learn more about the course, and various other events being put on by Bermuda Island Games you can visit the website www.bermudaislandgames.com.”
