A photograph of Clyde Best in his footballing heyday for West Ham United has emerged on social media.

Best, one of the first Black role models in English football, is pictured with his West Ham team-mates Geoff Hurst, Harry Redknapp, Trevor Brooking, Pop Robson, Ronnie Boyce and Johnny Ayris at the Boleyn Ground in the 1970s.

The photograph appeared in Goal magazine, issue 2, in November 1995.

Between 1968 and 1976, Best made 186 appearances, scoring 47 goals, for West Ham.

Filming for the new Clyde Best documentary – Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story – took place in Bermuda recently.

The re-enactment scene, featuring local footballers as the actors, involved Best as a youngster and his Dockyard Island Rangers team-mates playing against a team of Royal Navy sailors in the 1960s.
