KAF To Host ‘Small Acts – Big Impact’ Event

October 16, 2023

Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation is hosting “Small Acts – Big Impact,” a fundraising event at the Bermuda National Gallery on Saturday, October 21.

A spokesperson said, “Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation will be hosting Small Acts – Big Impact, a fundraising event at the Bermuda National Gallery on Saturday, October 21, from 6pm to 9pm. This will be the first fundraiser since the pandemic for the non-profit community center which aims to empower children through art.

“Since its inception 17 years ago, Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation has impacted over 18,000 children – many of them returning students, who have taken part in their programmes which include the Art Connect curriculum engagement programme for public school students and the Creative Minds Early Years programme, alongside a wide range of after school classes and camps. Approximately 30-40% of students attend on bursaries and the event will raise much needed funds for the bursary pot, alongside the operational needs of the organization.

“Small Acts – Big Impact, which is open to both individuals and families, presents an art-filled evening of cocktails, nibbles and live music by Mia Page and James Gregory in the striking surroundings of the Bermuda National Gallery. Artworks created by Kaleidoscope students inspired by BNG’s current exhibition Simplicity of Form: Unfolding Abstraction, will be on display alongside works by some of the biggest names in contemporary art including David Hockney, Bridget Riley and Frank Stella. The two will hang together for one night only.

“Student artworks will be available to purchase, alongside a silent auction of artworks by some of Bermuda’s leading artists, including Graham Foster, Gherdai Hassell, Abi Box, Louisa Bermingham and Dr Charles Zuill.”

Fiona Rodriguez, Founder and Executive Director said, “Our exhibit is a testament to the endless imagination and creativity of the next generation. A reminder that even in the smallest hands, art has the power to inspire and transform. We are really excited about what is set to be a magical evening to showcase our work alongside such great modern artists.”

Heather Kitson-Smale, Chair of the Board of Trustees said “We hope many will join us for a unique evening of art, music, and generosity. The canvases come alive with heart and soul, as talented artists have graciously donated their work in strong support of the KAF family. We are thrilled that Mia Chambray will be singing at our event – the power of art will meet the magic of music, all in the spirit of giving back. Every dollar raised will make a big difference to our local community.”

The spokesperson said, “Small Acts – Big Impact takes place at the Bermuda National Gallery on Saturday, October 21 from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets are $100 for individual adults, $25 for children and $200 for families [2 adults and up to 2 children]. The ticket price includes a complimentary family membership to the Bermuda National Gallery. All proceeds directly support Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation, registered charity #765.
