Four Equestrians Compete In Suriname

Kamali Tucker, Tyler James, Kimoy Cruickshank, and Rai Burch competed in the Grand Caraibe Suriname 2023 – International Horse Jumping Competition.

The competition was held at the Ponderosa Equestrian Center in Suriname, and Bermuda, Jamaica, French Guyana, Martinique, and Suriname all participated.

The course was designed by Bfyan Lo, with Gail Issa the Judge of the event.

The competition was held over two days and offered three jumping Divisions in which Bermuda equestrians competed.

  • Class B – Espoire 0.80 – 0.85m – Tucker & Cruickshank
  • Class L – Elite 1.00 – 1.05m – James
  • Class M – Grand Prix 1.10 – 1.20m – Burch

Burch riding E-Carlo, finished 2nd on the first day of the Grand Prix, with a clear round time of 71.48. Burch went on to claim 1st place on day two, with a clear round time of 40.59, thus capturing the overall championship for the Grand Prix Division.

Cruickshank riding Mufasa finished 17th on day one clocking a clear round time of 74.37, but on day two, Cruickshank and Mufasa clocked a clear round time of 33.45 to win the day, and finish 7th overall.

Bermuda’s competitors described it as a wonderful experience that provided an opportunity to test their skills and to meet equestrian riders from the various competing countries.
