Centennial Appoints Michelle Seymour Smith
Centennial Bermuda Foundation announced the appointment of Michelle Seymour Smith as a new Director to its Board.
A spokesperson said, “Michelle joins Centennial with a wealth of business and finance experience, spanning three decades in the insurance and reinsurance industry.
“Michelle’s career has been defined by her ability to shape strategic vision and to build and lead the teams, processes, and systems necessary to successfully realise those objectives. Having held positions in several prominent companies, her career highlights include serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Arch Reinsurance Ltd and as the Chief Transformation Officer of Arch Capital Group Ltd.
“She has been recognised as one of the “100 Influential Women in Insurance and Reinsurance” by Intelligent Insurer and was named a Fellow of the International Women’s Forum. She is currently a Non-Executive Director for several publicly listed and privately held organisations.
“Michelle is passionate about supporting economic development and educational opportunities for Bermudians. She has assisted in the creation of legislation supporting jobs growth in Bermuda and serves as Chair of the Association of Bermuda International Companies Education Awards. In addition, she actively supports and mentors people seeking opportunity for growth and progression at all stages of their career.
“Michelle has been a member of the Economic Participation Review Committee since 2020 and now will serve in the capacity as the Chair of the Economic Participation Committee, and as a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee. Centennial aims to appoint Board members from within whenever feasible. Centennial is Bermuda’s largest private philanthropic organisation that funds a wide range of philanthropic initiatives and scholarships in Bermuda.”
