Four Social Sector Leaders Complete Training

The Inter Agency Committee for Children, Families and the Community [IAC] announced that four prominent social sector leaders have successfully completed Systems Leadership training.

A spokesperson said, “They are; Dany Pen de Rodriguez, Executive Director, Raleigh Bermuda, Keren Simmons, Programme Director, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Dr. Nicola Paugh, Executive Director, IAC and Kimberley Jackson, Senior Programme Manager, Mirrors Programme.

“The initiative aimed to provide comprehensive training and support for the leadership of social impact collaboratives, empowering them with the necessary skills to drive collective work and address Bermuda’s chronic and persistent social and environmental challenges.

“In recent times, it has become increasingly evident that addressing root cause issues in Bermuda’s social sector requires collaborative efforts. Working together allows for a more holistic approach to tackling these challenges and creating sustainable solutions. However, successful collaboration and participatory leadership are skills that require nurturing and development.

“The training was delivered over 5 months in a live virtual format conducted by ‘The Outside’ and ‘Growth Development Solutions’ in partnership with IAC, had a clear focus on building essential skillsets among social sector leaders.

“Participants engaged in intensive training sessions that encompassed both theoretical knowledge and practical application. The curriculum was designed to equip leaders with the tools needed to foster meaningful collaborations, drive impactful change, and address social and environmental issues more effectively.”

Commenting on the successful completion of the Systems Leadership Training, Keren Simmons said: ” The Systemic Change and Leadership in conjunction with the Coaching, Mentoring, Facilitation course have helped me to see the need for systemic change within my organization and how to go through this process using the coaching, mentoring and facilitation techniques and procedures.” While Dany Pen de Rodriguez shared that; “The courses and workshops provided support in elevating leadership skills and challenged us in different ways which required in-depth self reflection and awareness.”

The spokesperson said, “The graduates of the Systems Leadership Training program are now equipped to lead with a deeper understanding of collaboration and participatory leadership, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact they will create in addressing Bermuda’s social and environmental challenges.”
