Scott Barnes continued his impressive start to the karting season after claiming two podium finishes at the Roc Cup USA Florida Winter Tour at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex at the weekend.
The island’s top driver, who won the Shifter Masters title in the Skusa Winter Series at the same venue the previous weekend, finished in second in the Shifter Masters and third in the L206 Masters.
Barnes finished runner-up in all three heats, third in the pre-final, and second in the final in the Shifter Masters.
In the L206 Masters, Barnes posted two third-place finishes and a second in the heats, third in the pre-final and final.
“We didn’t get the wins we were looking for, but we’ll take two podiums,” Barnes told Bernews.
The 39-year-old, racing for Maranello Kart USA for the first time, added: “It was my first race with this team, a fast team, and the kart was great all weekend. We could well be racing together again in the future.”
Barnes is considering racing in the Shifter Masters in rounds one and two of the Skusa Pro Tour Winternationals in Orlando Kart next month.
He also hopes to compete in the inaugural Stars Championship Series, which features four races, starting in Charlotte in April.
