Swim Clinic For Female Athletes On March 9

Lisa Blackburn, a decorated Pan American Games medalist, will be holding a swim clinic for girls on March 9.

A spokesperson said, “Event hostess Lisa Blackburn is a three-time Pan American Games medalist, Masters world record holder, and Chief Motivation Officer & Head Coach of TheSwimLife.co. Special guests will include Ashley Yearwood, two-time Division III Champion and Certified Swim Coach; Panzy Oleander, Triathlete and Certified CrossFit coach; Jasmine Furbert, owner of VRY Yoga and Taeya Dent of Taeya Dent Media.

“The goal of the clinic is to inspire, motivate and empower female athletes in Bermuda. For girls only, aged 9-15, hosted at the Bermuda National Swim Center. Learn swimming skills and drills for all four competitive swim strokes from two retired Bermudian elite athletes and professional swimmers for Bermuda.

“Between them, Lisa and Ashley have won a total of 19 medals from the 2013 Island Games. They have both represented Bermuda at championships throughout the region, the United States, and around the world, bringing back medals from several international events. They are passionate about giving back and inspiring the next generation of Bermuda’s young athletes.

“They look forward to sharing their experiences, knowledge, and tips and tricks for peak performance and how to be your best both in and out of the pool.

“Panzy Oleander will speak about the importance of strength training. She will also highlight the importance of versatility and how being a well-rounded athlete and person will contribute to success in any sport or life endeavor.

“Jasmine Furbert will lead a yoga flow and visualization session that focuses on the importance of flexibility, distraction control and learning to trust the flow in any moment.

“Taeya Dent is our event photographer. She will capture special moments throughout the day of our participants and role models working together to inspire inclusion with the next generation of female athletes.
