A Government spokesperson said, “Established during a period of racial segregation, the club was founded by five visionary Black men who sought to create a space that transcended racial barriers. Their unwavering belief in brotherhood and sisterhood laid the foundation for an organisation that has stood the test of time.

“From its inception, the Leopards Club has profoundly impacted the community. By accepting all people as brothers and sisters, regardless of their racial background, the club became a beacon of hope during a dark period of segregation. A highlight of the Leopard’s Club legacy is its commitment to addressing the pressing issues of the day.

“The club provided a platform for open dialogue through their monthly dinners, bringing together local and international speakers to discuss matters shaping our world. These discussions were not merely conversations but catalysts for change, laying the groundwork for a more equitable and just society.”
