Photos: Visiting Fam Trip Golfers In St George’s
Visiting golfers from the UK, Ireland, and Bermuda were treated to an experience during the Bermuda Golf Fam Trip from March 14 to 18, 2024, as they explored the scenic courses and vibrant culture of St. George’s.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda UK Ireland Golf Fam Trip March 14 – 18, 2024 exceeded all expectations with each day offering a different golf and cultural experience for our twenty-five visiting golfers.
Official Welcome
“The day officially started at 8:15am Friday March 14th, 2024 at Town Hall the most glorious sunny morning of the year. The Worshipful Mayor Quinnell Francis, Town Crier Michael Jones, MP Renee Ming and event organizer MP Kim Swan were on hand to provide a traditional Royal Welcome for our esteemed visitors and offer welcoming remarks.
“The visitors were taken aback, having just flown in 12 hours earlier on British Airways one of the golfers were over-heard commenting ,’sunny skies, inviting blue water and a warm embrace from the locals what a start …’
“In the town square event planners Cindy Swan, Dawn & Karen Gilbert were on hand to provide gift bags to each visitor.
Excellence of St Regis
“At 8:30am the group were received by St. Regis General Manager Mr. Leslie Prea and his enthusiastic staff who provided an excellent tour of their awesome property followed by a scrumptious continental breakfast.
Five Forts Golf Course
“The golf experience did not disappoint as Mr. Alex Capitillo, Golf Professional & staff’s attention to detail got golfers on the golf course without delay. The golf course condition was exceptional as Five Forts putting surfaces are arguably the best in Bermuda.
“The golfers were relaxed on the golfers, taking pictures of the the pastel coloured houses and the abundance of water views on most golf holes.
Tobacco Bay Steals the Show
“Dennie O’Connor deserves a special thank you for hosting the welcome lunch where the visitors were serenaded by the music of local musician Eugene Joell who got the group engaged and Elvis Presley lookalike performer Golf Pro Darren Boyce entertained the group.
Surprise Performances
“The visitors were officially welcomed by musical tributes by East End Primary School arranged by MP Kim Swan and the visiting Harvard [Lady] Krokodiloes a surprise organized by Dennie O’Connor.
“Following an enjoyable day of golf, unwinding after a long journey to Bermuda in front of the tempting ocean lured many of the golfers into the ocean on Day 1.
“A swim at Tobacco Bay proved to be the perfect conclusion to a mystical first day in Bermuda.”
