Scott Barnes is revving up for a busy period of racing for his new team, Maranello Kart USA, starting with the opening two rounds of the Skusa Pro Tour in Orlando, Florida, this weekend.
Barnes has a proven track record in the Pro Tour, winning the Shifter Masters title in 2020 and coming runner-up in 2021.
The Pro Tour features the WinterNationals at the Orlando Kart Centre from Friday to Sunday [March 8 to 10]; the SpringNationals at the Motorsports Country Club in Batavia, Ohio, from June 14 to 16; and the SummerNationals at the New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana, from July 26 to 28.
“I’m going to be up against at least ten fast guys in the Shifter Masters, but the goal, as always, is the championship,” Barnes told Bernews.
“The competition will be stiff, so I know I will have to race smart and collect as many points as I can each race day.”
Barnes joined Maranello from Magik Kart USA last month after impressing on his first outing for them in the second round of the Rok USA Florida Winter Tour.
He will race in the final round of the Winter Tour in Orlando from March 15 to 17 and compete in the inaugural Stars Championship Series, starting in Charlotte, North Carolina, next month.
“Thanks to Maranello coming through with the offer of a ride, it looks like I’ll have a busy year of racing,” added Barnes, sponsored by Butterfield and Vallis, representing its Powerade brand.
“I don’t know how many more of these busy seasons I’ll get as I’m getting married at the end of the year and looking to start a family next year. It could be my grand finale, at least for a while!”
