Jermaine Francis pulled a goal back for Chelmsford in the 90th minute before George Alexander netted in the 92nd minute to force extra time.
Braintree would not be denied, though, with Jayden Davies scoring the winner in the 98th minute.
Braintree will play Worthing or Maidstone United in the play-off final on May 6.
Lambe joined Braintree last summer from Isthmian League North Division side AFC Sudbury.
Bermuda midfielder Willie Clemons also plays for Braintree but was ruled out for the season due to a knee injury.
