BSSF Hosts Annual Basketball Knock-Out Finals
The Bermuda School Sports Federation hosted their annual basketball knock-out finals, with five different schools crowned champions.
Middle School Girls Final
Mount Saint Agnes Academy 10 Somersfield Academy 3
Mount Saint Agnes Academy won the middle school girls final after defeating Somersfield Academy 10 – 3. T’Mia Simmons was the top scorer for the game with 6 points. Simmons was named MVP for MSA with Dasiey Langley named MVP for Somersfield Academy.
Middle School Boys Final
Warwick Academy 22 Saltus Grammar School 21
Warwick Academy scored a free throw with 12 seconds left to win the middle school boys final 22 – 21 over Saltus Grammar School. Warwick Academy MVP Evan Hayward scored 8 points while Liam Johnson added six. Saltus MVP Cruz Butterfield led all scorers with 14 points with Harrison Estwanik scoring 5.
Senior School Junior Varsity Final
The Berkeley Institute 59 Mount Saint Agnes Academy 37
MVP Troy Washington and Devin Todd each scored 18 points to lead the Berkeley Institute to a 59 – 37 win over Mount Saint Agnes. MSA were led by MVP Rajan Simons with 22 points.
Senior School Varsity Girls Final
Saltus Grammar School 19 Somersfield Academy 9
Saltus Grammar School defeated Somersfield Academy in a low scoring senior girls final. Saltus found the scoring touch late in the game to pull away from Somersfield. Aria Mosquera earned MVP honors for Saltus after scoring 13 points in the win. Brittany Pacheco added five for Saltus while Somersfield MVP Taylor Herzard scored 5 points.
Senior School Varsity Final
CedarBridge Academy 56 Mount Saint Agnes Academy 42
CedarBridge Academy made it five different school winners in five finals after defeating Mount Saint Agnes in the senior school varsity final 56 – 42. Szaine Williams put on a scoring clinic late in the game to surge CedarBridge ahead in what was a close game with four minutes remaining. MVP Williams scored an impressive 32 points to lead the Devonshire school to victory. Denash Davis added 13 points and provided solid defense with a number of blocks and defensive rebounds. MSA were led by MVP Jacinto Saints led the Saints with 15 points with Olek Rymon Lipinski added 10.
