Suzanne Khan Bermuda May 21 2024Suzanne Khan has been appointed the Executive Director of WeSpeak.

A spokesperson said, “WeSpeak Bermuda is thrilled to announce the appointment of Suzanne Khan as its first Executive Director. Khan is a seasoned professional who brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the role. She is poised to lead WeSpeak Bermuda into its next chapter, building on the momentum the dynamic, non-profit organization has developed since its inception in 2019.”

“We are delighted to welcome Sue to the WeSpeak family in this newly-created role that reflects our growth and success to date, thanks to our valued sponsors, members, supporters, and all stakeholders,” said Carolyn Myers, Chair of WeSpeak Bermuda.

“WeSpeak has aspiring and innovative future plans for expansion. Sue’s extensive business experience and passion for WeSpeak’s mission, coupled with her strategic vision make her the perfect fit for this exciting role. We’re confident that under her leadership, WeSpeak will be positioned not only to meet the growing demand for our services, but also to build on the success we’ve had so far, taking our community impact to the next level.”

A spokesperson added, “With more than a decade of business, consulting and project management experience across re/insurance, non-profit and wellness industries, Khan brings a wealth of expertise well suited to WeSpeak. As a mother of three, founder of SARRAK Consulting and Naked Zero Wellness, she is committed to promoting balance and well-being, leveraging her experience to drive strategic initiatives and foster inclusive environments. She holds a BBA in Finance from Georgia State University and an Associates in Reinsurance [ARe] designation.

“In her new role, Khan will focus on supporting WeSpeak’s future growth strategy with the development of a range of new programmes, including a WeSpeak 2.0 boot camp designed to support 1,300 WeSpeak boot campers as they continue their public-speaking journey, as well as the expansion of its highly popular WeSpeak Teen programme.

“Other new programmes will include a bespoke corporate offering, which will include customized WeSpeak public-speaking training modules designed for organisations to offer in-house to employees, and WeSpeak’s Community Circle, a free platform offering resources to support women as they build public-speaking confidence. The group will also launch an accessible database of WeSpeak’s 150-plus coaches, along with a dedicated speakers database to highlight female panelists and keynotes for event-planners and media companies.

“This spring marks a five-year milestone for WeSpeak, which since launch has supported hundreds of women and girls in Bermuda from diverse backgrounds and industries through its sold-out series of speaking bootcamps, an inclusive programme of coaching, celebrity-speaker engagements, and other events to help women improve their presentation skills. The group was formed to address the lack of women speakers at industry events and the reluctance of women to speak publicly—which a survey it conducted attributed to a lack of formal training, limited opportunities to practise, and little access to talented peers or mentors.

“Since inception WeSpeak has held seven boot camps; coached and trained 1,300 female executives across 12 industry sectors; coached and trained 200 teens; recruited and trained 150 WeSpeak coaches; hosted 30 public events—all garnering a +90-percent satisfaction rating.

“I am honoured to join WeSpeak Bermuda as Executive Director,” said Ms Khan. “I am passionate about empowering women and fostering an environment where they can develop and showcase their public-speaking skills. I am eager to bring my unique skill set to the WeSpeak team and our community to further the impactful work that has already been done and to take our initiatives to new heights.”
