Minister Furbert’s Trip To Germany Cost $4,406

A trip in June 2023 by Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors Tinèe Furbert to Berlin, Germany cost $4,406.56, according to a listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from June 15, 2023 – June 22, 2023, and the web page listing said, “The Hon. Tinèe S. Furbert JP, MP Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors attended the 16th Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany.

“The Special Olympics is the largest inclusive multi sports event worldwide, and an integral part of a global movement committed to drive equal participation in all parts of life for people with intellectual disabilities through the power of sports.

“The Bermuda delegation of 33 persons participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympic World Games. Nineteen athletes competed in various events crowning eleven gold, silver, and bronze medals for our Island of Bermuda.

“Minister Furbert also attended The Global Forum For Inclusion together with other selected government officials. This Global Forum – Partnering for Action was an interdisciplinary effort to discuss how to jointly implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals.”

    Not bad for a 7 day trip with around $300 a night for the hotel. Maybe she could advise Buttons and her fellow cabinet members on accommodation as he doesn’t seem capable of finding a hotel room for less than $1000 per night?
