Nia Christopher Joins Fort Lauderdale United FC
Nia Christopher has signed with Fort Lauderdale United FC for the inaugural USL Super League season.
A statement from the Florida-based club said, “Nia Christopher, Bermuda-born forward, signed today with Fort Lauderdale United FC for the inaugural USL Super League season coming this August.
“Christopher first showcased her skill on the Bermuda National team as a starting forward when she was just in high school. She then took her talents to Towson University, where she emerged as an instinctive striker and the glue for her team’s offense.
“In the spring of 2021, Christopher started in all eight games, leading Towson in points with three and shots on goal with 12. She ranked sixth in the CAA in shots on goal with 1.38 per game, and she was awarded to the All-CAA Second Team and CAA All-Rookie forward.
“By fall, Christopher became the first Towson player since 2014 to make the All-CAA first team. She had the third-highest goal-scoring season in Towson history with 13 goals, starting in all 18 games as a forward. Her capability of finding the back of the net and being at the forefront of attacks allowed her to finish the season ranked ninth in Towson history in career goals [14] and tied for fifth in game-winning goals.
“Not only was she scoring goals consistently, she was scoring multiple goals a game and delivering crucial goals in key moments, such as scoring a hat trick, including the overtime golden goal, against Mount St. Mary’s. This earned her the College Soccer News National Player of the Week and CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Her season in 2021 didn’t stop there as she competed with the Bermuda National Team in CONCACAF, scoring another hat trick.
“In 2022, Christopher was named All-CAA First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-East Region and CAA All-Tournament Team. Christopher continued to be a lethal forward, recording 13 goals and four assists for a team-best, leading the CAA with 30 points. Christopher was constantly breaking records and delivering for her team, including setting the program single-game record with five goals and 10 points in a 7-0 win against Delaware State. Christopher’s precision and goal-scoring ability moved her up to fifth all-time in career points [61], second in goals [27] and into a tie for game-winning goals [10] on her team.
“Christopher’s deadly finishing ability and natural goal-scoring instinct will create numerous opportunities for Fort Lauderdale United FC in their debut season. Her powerful and accurate shot will make her a constant threat to any defense she encounters.”
