KPMG Bermuda and Frontier announced their 2024 scholarships have been awarded to Bethany Cooze and Kahlil Smythe.
A spokesperson said, “KPMG in Bermuda and Frontier, an Artex company, are proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 KPMG and Frontier Scholarships. These prestigious awards are presented annually by the Partners of KPMG and Frontier leadership members to outstanding incoming and current university students who demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in the financial services industry.
“This year’s KPMG Scholarship, valued at $30,000 per annum, has been awarded to Bethany Cooze. The Frontier Scholarship, valued at $15,000 per annum, has been awarded to Kahlil Smythe. Both scholarships are for up to four and three years per annum respectively and are geared towards students dedicated to studying for professional accounting designations, such as CPA Canada, ACCA, CPA US, or ACA UK.”
“Beyond the financial support, the scholarship recipients will benefit from the following:
- KPMG’s comprehensive Graduate Program, upon the successful completion of their undergraduate degree. This program offers paid on-the-job training;
- a guaranteed summer internship position, mentoring, and financial assistance for their professional examinations as individuals work towards their chosen professional qualification; and
- the ability to participate in KPMG’s Global Advantage Program, a four-day global leadership program at one of KPMG’s global offices.
Bethany Cooze stated, “I am extremely honoured and thankful to have been awarded the 2024 KPMG Scholarship. I’m especially excited to gain hands-on experience as a summer intern, and to continue learning from skilled professionals upon returning to Bermuda to enter the industry at one of the world’s leading accounting firms. With this scholarship, I will gain a platform of support and mentorship as I work towards my CPA in the future, which I believe, is a truly valuable opportunity for my success and growth. I am very excited for what lies ahead.”
Kahlil Smythe stated, “I extend heartfelt gratitude to KPMG and Frontier for awarding me the esteemed 2024 Frontier Scholarship. This prestigious recognition represents a pivotal step forward in my academic journey and pursuit of the ACA qualification. I eagerly anticipate returning to KPMG for further enriching summer internships and embracing the educational opportunities offered by the KPMG Global Advantage Programme. This scholarship has ignited a passion to craft a meaningful and unforgettable experience at the University of Edinburgh, while also contributing to both the firm and Bermuda’s thriving economy. With this support, my future is bright with boundless opportunities ahead.”
“We are thrilled to support these exceptional students on their journey to becoming future leaders in the field of accounting,” said Felicia Wilsen, Partner and Lift Off Program Chair at KPMG in Bermuda. “Their dedication and hard work have earned them these scholarships, and we look forward to seeing their continued success as they join our global network.”
