Family Centre & Clarien Cup Match Tag Day

Family Centre and Clarien Bank are kicking off their Cup Match Tag Day Campaign this week.

A spokesperson said, “This Cup Match, Families in Bermuda must win’, said the charity. Tag Day is the organization’s major fundraiser for the year, and is dedicated in memory of Family Centre’s founder, the late Martha Dismont. The funds raised through the purchase of your team’s ribbons or stickers support critical therapeutic counselling services and community outreach programmes such as Youth Leadership Academy, Beyond Rugby Bermuda and Beyond Yoga Bermuda offered at no cost to children, teens, and their families.

“Family Centre’s Cup Match ribbons represent the friendly rivalry among the island’s two Cup Match cricket teams: St. George’s and Somerset. Your Cup Match ribbon promotes your support of your favourite team and keeps the Cup Match spirit alive whilst supporting the nurture and care for children and families in Bermuda. Family Centre is honoured that our Tag Day is a part of this unique time on the island when family, friends and visitors come together to celebrate the historical importance of Emancipation Day and Mary Prince Day while watching the game of cricket, going to the beach, picnicking, or doing other fun activities together. Family Centre Tag Day will be held on Wednesday, July 31. Ribbons are now available at various locations throughout the island.”

Dr Sandy De Silva, Family Centre’s Executive Director explains, “Family Centre is Bermuda’s only mental health organization for children and teens in Bermuda that is a nonprofit and not hospital or government based. What is unique to Family Centre’s therapeutic counselling services and community outreach programmes is our wrap around, holistic approach to children and teens who are experiencing social and emotional challenges.”

“The last few weeks Bermuda has experienced tragedies that affected us all. Family Centre is an available resource to families with children between the ages of 4 to 18 who may be experiencing challenges due to these recent events. These and other therapeutic services are provided at no cost to families due in part to the generosity of the community’s participation in fundraisers like Tag Day and the generosity of donors,” stated Thania Redman, Family Centre Relationship Development Director.

Michael DeCouto, EVP, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer, Clarien Bank said: “Over the past 23 years, Clarien Bank has proudly stood beside the Family Centre in support of the Cup Match Tag Day, an event that embodies the spirit of community and unity so vital to the heart of Bermuda. This partnership has always been more than just a sponsorship; it’s a commitment to the well-being of our island’s children and their families, in remembrance of Martha Dismont’s legacy and in celebration of our island’s rich traditions.

“We invite the whole community to join us in this year’s Cup Match Tag Day – by purchasing a ribbon, or simply spreading the word – and play a role in a tradition that extends far beyond the cricket field. Whether you’re donning a St. George’s or Somerset ribbon, your participation signifies a win for Bermudian families, ensuring that the legacy of care and community support endures for generations to come.”
