National Criterium Championships Results
The Bermuda National Criterium Championships took place this weekend, with some of the island’s top cyclists in action.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda National Criterium Championship witnessed thrilling races yesterday on the Fort Knox course.
“In the elite women’s race, Liana, Panzy, and Caitlin consistently pushed the pace, causing the threesome to split from the pack. The final lap was a dramatic showdown between Panzy and Caitlin. Panzy’s long sprint proved decisive, securing her victory as Caitlin couldn’t match her pace in the final stretch.
“The elite men’s race featured a highly competitive field, including former professional cyclist Matt Boys, Bermuda’s top male triathlete Tyler Butterfield, multiple-time Bermuda criterium champions Conor White, Dominique Mayo multi-time Bermuda Champion, and Nicholas Narraway. The race was dynamic, with numerous breaks and chases. The pivotal moment came on the final hill when Conor, Dominique, and Nicholas made a decisive move. Unfortunately, Conor dropped his chain, leaving Dominique and Nicholas to battle it out in the sprint. Dominique Mayo ultimately crossed the finish line first, clinching the championship title.
“Other championship categories were Junior Male and Junior Female, in additional to other race categories masters and under Junior Male 13-14 and Junior Male Under 12 – see results for podium places.”
