‘Smouldering Fire’ At Tynes Bay Causes Delays
The Ministry of Public Works advised of a “smouldering bunker fire at the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy facility in Devonshire.”
A Government spokesperson said, “The incident has resulted in periodic impacts on service delivery. The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service and Tynes Bay personnel are closely monitoring the situation to ensure it remains under control.
“The primary concern is the safety and well-being of the commercial hauliers who unload at the facility and staff members. Operations are continuing, and the situation remains manageable. However, hauliers are advised to remain patient as there could be service delays.
“Residents are assured that the public drop-off service for household waste has not been affected and continues to operate as usual. There is no immediate threat to public safety, and the plant is taking all necessary steps to manage the situation effectively.
“The cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders during this time are appreciated, and the Ministry will provide further updates as necessary.”
