Trott & Burrows Complete Graduate Programme
Butterfield announced that Bermudians Shara Trott and Rickai Burrows have “successfully completed the Graduate Talent Programme and will transition to full-time positions.”
A spokesperson said, “The closing of the Bermuda programme was marked by joining the BSX at Exchange House for the bell-ringing ceremony. Following a presentation from Shara and Rickai detailing their experience at Butterfield, Ailish Byrne, Chief Compliance Officer at the BSX, shared an overview of the Bermuda market and the workings of the stock exchange.”
Shara Trott said, “Ringing the bell at the BSX was the perfect ending to an amazing 18-month programme, which has been both challenging and rewarding. Some of the highlights for me have included the time spent with the Corporate Banking team, where I joined client meetings and was able to gain an understanding of the book of business and the services offered, our visit to the banking team in the Cayman Islands and the opportunity to mentor our summer interns. I thank the whole team for the opportunity, and particularly my mentor Jody Feldman whose wisdom and guidance has been hugely beneficial to my professional development, and I look forward to continuing my journey with Butterfield.”
Rickai Burrows said, “From the onset of the programme we were tasked with key projects and assignments together with the support to learn and perform. For me, working with the compliance team was a particular highlight as the nature of the work aligned with my interest and strengths in risk assessment and analytical thinking. I would also like to specifically mention and thank my mentor Shawnette Griffin who gave me invaluable insight, both personally and professionally.”
Ailish Byrne said, “The BSX was delighted to celebrate Shara and Rickai’s milestone with them. We look forward to watching them thrive in their future careers and having lots more ‘ring the bell’ moments!”
The spokesperson said, “The 2022 cohort, which includes Jehquisha Buchanan and Dylan Jackson in the Cayman Islands, has participated in real work placements across key business areas, specialised training and one-to-one mentorship sessions.”
Andrew Burns, Butterfield’s Group Head of Human Resources, said, “Back in 2022, we welcomed Shara, Rickai, Jehquisha and Dylan to Butterfield as part of our refreshed Graduate Talent Programme and we are pleased to now be welcoming them all to the business full-time. Having completed rotations across a number of key business areas, including banking, compliance, operations, asset management and trust, these talented individuals have shown dedication and a willingness to learn. We congratulate them on their achievement and successful career progression.”
The spokesperson said, “In addition to its Graduate Talent Programme, Butterfield provides a range of opportunities for young people to pursue careers in finance and beyond, including summer internships and an annual scholarship programme.”
